Mr. Kehoe has more than 35 years of experience in corporate finance, capital markets, and the natural resource sector. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for founding, financing, developing, and leading a number of successful companies, transforming early-stage opportunities into successful operating businesses.

Prior to Basin Mine, he was one of the two founders of Cabin Ridge Coal Corporation, a metallurgical coal company that advanced from a greenfield exploration opportunity to an engineered project with an NPV10 value in excess of $3.0 billion.

He also served as President and CEO of a Calgary-based junior oil and gas company that, over a two-year period, grew from an early-stage opportunity with no attributable oil and gas reserve value to a company with a Proved plus Probable NPV10 value of $36,430,900 and an independently estimated Contingent Resource NPV10 value of $222,690,000.

In an earlier role, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of another Calgary-based junior oil and natural gas company. During his two-year tenure, the company achieved 355% year-over-year growth in total proved reserves, culminating in its sale for approximately five times the company’s market capitalization at the time he assumed management.

He was also one of the two founding partners of GTE Solar Inc., a Calgary-based renewable energy company that developed and sold the first utility-scale ground-mounted solar farm in Western Canada, located near Brooks, Alberta.

He is also the founder and Managing Director of the Discovery Drilling Funds Group of Companies (the “Discovery Group”), a resource development and exploration management organization engaged in the structuring and management of institutional and private client exploration syndicates, coal exploration and development, oil and gas resource management, renewable energy development, and related drilling, pipeline, shipping, and wellsite services.

Through the Discovery Group and its affiliated entities, he has been directly involved in the creation, financing, and executive management of companies spanning oilfield services, natural resource development, renewable energy, financial services, and related industries. Serving as Chief Executive Officer, President, Director, or founder, he has guided numerous ventures from concept through financing, development, and commercialization.

Earlier in his career, he worked in the investment banking and private placement financing industry. He also founded Beringer Capital Partners Ltd., an Exempt Market Dealer registered with the securities commissions in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, and was an original director and one of the two founding members of the Private Capital Markets Association of Canada (PCMA).

Throughout his career, he has consistently identified undervalued opportunities, assembled capital, and transformed early-stage concepts into successful operating businesses that create long-term shareholder value.

Kari brings to the team a wealth of hands-on experience in the areas of coal operations and associated environmental and regulatory strategies (AER, DFO, AEP, ACO), First Nations consultancy, project management, pipeline slurry operations, community engagement and geology.

Kari began her career as an open pit geologist at Teck’s Line Creek Coal mine, where she was responsible for mapping, core analysis, planning, logistics, blasting, dump design, stability analysis and reclamation planning.

Following 25 years of multifaceted industry experience, and prior to joining the team at Basin Mines, Kari was Vice President, Global Environmental & Regulatory Affairs at Westmoreland Coal from August 2014 until January 2018. At Westmoreland, Kari was responsible for environmental and regulatory compliance and strategic planning for 18 operating, 3 inactive and 3 active reclamation coal mines in Canada and the US — including operational and strategic planning for licensing, reclamation and operation in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Montana, Ohio, Kentucky, North Dakota, Wyoming, Texas and New Mexico, in addition to reclamation and Asset Retirement Obligations, bond calculations, reduction in liability and closure strategies.

Kari’s extensive relationships in the Western Canadian regulatory, industrial, environmental and First Nation circles play a critical role in the effective and timely execution of the Company’s business plan.

Mr. Wallin is a Professional Engineer with over 25 years of petroleum engineering experience across a wide variety of assets in the WCSB. Over the last six years Mr. Wallin has provided consulting engineering services to a number of successful oil and gas companies.

Prior to that, Mr. Wallin served as a Senior Development and Acquisition Evaluation engineer with Enerplus Resources Fund (“Enerplus”). As the Area Team Lead for Red Deer (W5M), Mr. Wallin was the “Franchise” manager of a $100 million profit centre, where his responsibilities included recruiting and managing a high performance team of multi-discipline professionals and field operations staff, stewarding OPEX & CAPEX budgets, reserve management and HSE targets. While in this position, Mr. Wallin created long range strategic plans — from idea generation to technical and economic justification, through to project execution and operations — which included A&D evaluations, asset for equity swaps, SWOT analysis, competitor review, partner relations, entrance/exit strategy, land sales, staffing and resource forecasting.

During his tenure at Enerplus, Mr. Wallin broadened his technical experience as a Senior Development Engineer through assignments across many core assets in the Pembina/Joarcam, Alberta/Saskatchewan Border and South East Saskatchewan areas. He was responsible for long term development, exploitation and management of numerous oil and gas properties, including asset evaluations and acquisitions. His experience includes cold heavy oil production with sand, water flood implementation and optimization, horizontal wells and wet Mannville CBM.

Prior to Enerplus, Mr. Wallin gained valuable engineering experience in production, operations, exploitation and evaluations while holding senior engineering positions with Husky Energy Inc., Petrovera Resources Limited and Wascana Energy Inc. (Nexen).

Mr. Wallin graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He is a member of APEGGA, APEGS and SPE.

Eric Beresford is an independent mining engineer and a member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia as well as the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geoscientists of Alberta. Eric first obtained his certification as a mining engineer in both underground and surface coal mines in England.

Over Eric’s extensive career, he has assumed numerous roles, including Engineer, Mine Surveyor, Exploration Manager, Mine Manager, Export Manager and mineral rights owner. On the regulatory side, Eric has worked for the National Coal Board of England as well as the British Columbia Ministry of Energy and Mines.

Eric’s career in the coal industry began at Pye Hill, Moorgreen and Denby Hill collieries in England. In 1969 he continued his career in Canada at McIntyre Coal Mines Smoky River Alberta, Coleman Collieries, and Obed Mountain Coal Company. For a period, Eric was also the Director of Mining for the New Zealand Coal Corporation.

Since 2000 Eric has worked in the coal and mining industry as a mining consultant for various companies throughout BC. His experience includes an in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements for mining and reclamation, including remediation of contaminated mine sites. Based on his qualifications and experience in the coal industry over many years, Eric has been asked to prepare applications for permits, licences, mining plans and valuation reports for financial institutions, as well as acting as an Expert Witness in legal matters before the courts.

Eric’s in-depth knowledge of the coal industry, as well as his hands-on experience with the Basin coal deposit since 2002, has proven invaluable to the company.
